YGB and A Dream within a Dream Essay

Your own imagination can turn into real life actions. Young Goodman Brown let his own dream control his life afterwards. He saw people that he loved be evil. In A Dream within a Dream by Edgar Allan he was explaining that a dream is so powerful you can feel it. He stated that if his faith ever goes away his life would just be meaningless. Comparing Young Goodman Brown and A Dream within a Dream, they are similar by both having a vision inside there mind that makes them and readers think it is real. They both explain it so poetically it makes the readers get intrigued. Both talks about their faith being strong and weak. Contrasting YGB and ADWAD, they are different because in YGB it is a man viewing his loved ones turn into what he least expect them to be and in ADWAD it is about a person pleading for god.  The person sees his life without faith as an imagination. YGB let his “dream” control his life afterwards making him perceive his life differently. They are both a good story/poem.

A Dream within a Dream

I feel like the poem is about dreaming of wanting to feel and see clearly, but once you get to a point you realize it is just your imagination your brain does to out focus you from the real world.

Making of an Essay

When I was writing the essay, I had trouble understanding the tone of the author.  By rereading the essay I saw my weaknesses and I could've made it better.

My Big Question

Why do humans with a great heart and the most humblest get more destroyed inside deeply? I want to really understand this. I know a person who gives a lot of love towards everyone, but in return they take advantage of her great heart that they become bitter. Why do humans prefer hate?

1. What do you think Hawthorne's purpose was for writing this story? The purpose on him writing this story is realizing everyone could have a good attitude, but also that they can commit sins
2. Hawthorne states that Brown's wife is "aptly named" Faith.  After reading the story, do you agree?  Does Faith's name fit her personality?  Does Brown have true faith in her?
3. What do you think the pink ribbons signify? I feel the pink ribbons signify good giving him signals
4. Was everything Brown witnessed real, a figment of his imagination, something conjured by evil, or a dream?  Support your answer with passages from the text. I believe brown witnessed is conjured by evil because of the snake that only has been involved in the bible 
5. Who do you think the old man really is?  What textual clues tell you this? I believe the old man is a devil
6. What does the staff represent?  Do you think the staff leads Brown onward or is the primary motivator Brown's own conscience/mind? The staff represents another  devil. He leads Brown onward into his conscience.
7. If Brown had not ventured into the forest, how would his life be different?  If he'd stayed home, would Brown still have Faith?  Would he still trust his wife and his fellow townspeople? Goodman's life would have been different by seeing things the same perspective and will only  have a little bit of faith.

                    Every person is similar to one another. According to the short story Cosequence of a Hacker, the main character clearly is explaining that humans are humans just the thoughts are who differs us.
